How to send USDC to Venmo, Cash App and PayPal
Yes. Artisan sends from your USDC balance to Venmo, Cash App or PayPal, to your own account or to a friend's, with no sale at an exchange first. You pick the app, paste the receiving details the app shows, and approve the send.
What is the usual way to do it?
Most people take a longer road. They sell the crypto at an exchange, wait for the sale, withdraw the dollars to a bank by ACH, wait again for the transfer to clear, and only then send from the bank app. That is four or five steps and a wait of days.
From Artisan it is one send from the balance you already hold. For paying a bill instead, start from Pay bills with crypto using USDC stablecoins and Pay bills with stablecoins like USDC.
Can I send to a friend, or only to myself?
Both. You can send to your own Venmo, Cash App or PayPal, or to anyone else's. For a friend, ask them to open their app and share the details it shows for receiving. You paste those in, so you never need their password or their phone.
How do I send USDC to Cash App?
Cash App takes USDC as a stablecoin deposit on Solana, Ethereum, Polygon or Arbitrum. Your Artisan balance may sit on a different network, so Artisan swaps it to the network the Cash App address belongs to before sending.
- First. In Artisan, choose Cash App and the network.
- Second. In Cash App, tap the Money tab, then Deposit Stablecoins, and pick the same network.
- Third. Copy the wallet address Cash App shows, or scan its QR code.
- Fourth. Paste it into Artisan, check the amount on the review screen, and approve.
On Solana the send usually lands in under a minute. Cash App has said stablecoin deposits are not open to New York residents. If you live in New York, or your friend does, send to the Cash App account and routing numbers instead. Those numbers appear once the Cash App Card is activated, under Money, then Direct deposit, then View your Account Details.
How do I send USDC to Venmo?
Venmo lists PYUSD, not USDC, for crypto deposits, so there is no USDC address to paste. Artisan sends dollars to the Venmo account and routing numbers instead, as a bank transfer.
- First. In Venmo, tap your picture or initials to open the Me tab.
- Second. Tap the Settings gear, then Direct Deposit.
- Third. Tap Show Account Number, then copy both numbers.
- Fourth. In Artisan, choose Venmo, enter the account holder's name, the routing number and the account number, and approve.
How do I send USDC to PayPal?
PayPal also lists PYUSD, not USDC, so it works the same way as Venmo. Artisan sends dollars to your PayPal account and routing numbers.
- First. In PayPal, tap your PayPal balance.
- Second. Tap Direct Deposit. Set it up first if you have not.
- Third. Copy the account number and the routing number.
- Fourth. In Artisan, choose PayPal, enter the account holder's name and the two numbers, and approve.
How long does it take?
A bank send to Venmo or PayPal usually arrives in 1 to 2 business days. Where the app offers it, you can pick a faster send that arrives in minutes. A Cash App send on Solana usually lands in under a minute. Why something is pending covers waits you may see.
What does it cost?
The review screen shows the amount that will land before you approve, and it is the final word. For a bank send, the standard fee is 0.5%, and a send that arrives in minutes costs that plus $1.00. On a $250 send, the standard fee is $1.25, so $248.75 lands.
A Cash App send on a network, with the swap it needs, is priced on the review screen too. It is not a fixed number, because it depends on the network you choose. The exchange route is often free in fees, so the case for Artisan is the steps and the days you skip, not a lower price.
Does my friend need crypto?
No. For Venmo and PayPal your friend gets a bank transfer of dollars into their account. They need Direct Deposit turned on so the app has numbers to show. For Cash App on a network, your friend needs a Cash App account where stablecoin deposits are open. In New York they are not, so use the account numbers instead.
What should I check before I send?
- The network. Send only on a network the app shows. Crypto sent to the wrong address cannot be pulled back.
- The numbers. Copy the account and routing numbers exactly as the app shows them. Artisan nudges you to check a saved destination again if a routing number has changed.
- New York. Cash App stablecoin deposits are not open there, so use the account numbers.
- Direct Deposit. PayPal needs it set up first. Cash App shows its numbers only after the card is activated.
Adding to your balance is covered in Adding money.
Who can use it?
Artisan is for people in the US, and it sends to US apps. It is open by invite while it grows, and you can join the waitlist.
Artisan is a software company, not a bank, and a USDC balance is not a deposit. Read where your money is and the risk disclosures before you send.
