Why something is pending
Pending means money has left one place and has not yet been counted in the next. Nothing is lost while it says that, and there is nothing for you to do.
Every wait in Artisan is one of four. Each one is somebody else finishing, and each one has a thing that ends it.
Waiting on a network
A transfer on a public network is pending until enough of that network agrees it happened. What ends it is confirmation. Nobody at Artisan can make a network agree sooner, and neither can you.
Waiting on a bank
Bank rails settle in batches, on business days, through a licensed partner. What ends it is the batch clearing at the other end. A weekend or a bank holiday is not a delay, it is the schedule.
Waiting on a biller
A bill payment is pending until the biller posts it to your account with them. What ends it is the biller applying it, on their own timetable.
This is why a payment should never be left until its due date. That wait belongs to the biller, and a late fee is charged by them.
Waiting on a check
The first time you do something, an identity or safety check may run before it goes through. What ends it is the check finishing.
When a wait stops looking like a wait
If something has been pending much longer than the last thing like it, that is worth telling us about rather than sitting with. Have the rough time and the amount ready and we will go and look.
