How to pay your PG&E bill with crypto and USDC
You can pay your PG&E bill with crypto when the crypto is USDC in your Artisan balance, because PG&E is in Artisan’s biller list. PG&E is paid in US dollars, so it does not need to accept crypto, and you do not sell your USDC first. Being in the list is not a promise that every payment goes through. If the biller does not accept one, the app says so and your money waits while you fix it, and a later section shows what you see.
Can I pay my PG&E bill with USDC?
Yes. You set the payment up and send it from the Bill tab. PG&E is only the biller being paid, and nothing here says PG&E works with Artisan.
What do I type to find PG&E in the app?
Type PG&E or PGE. The list opens on the one row named PG&E, and, when there are other matches, a link shows them. The full name does not work. On 2026-10-12, Pacific Gas and Electric found nothing, and the screen says Nothing on the list matches that. The search matches the words you type, so a longer name needs every word to be in the biller’s name.
How do I pay it in the app?
You pay it from the Bill tab.
- Open Bill. In Move, tap Bill.
- Pick the biller. Tap Biller, search, and choose the PG&E row.
- Enter the account number. The box is Account number, with the hint as it shows on your bill.
- Enter the amount. Type it under Amount to pay. A bill has to be at least $20.
- Check your details. Your name and address come from your one Artisan verification when it holds them, and a row opens so you can change them. The app asks only for what is missing, such as a US mobile number.
- Review, then approve. Tap Review the payment, then Approve the payment.
Where do I find the account number?
PG&E’s help page on account numbers, read on 2026-10-12, says the number is on your energy statement and that guest bill pay can look it up. Type it the way the statement prints it. A wrong number is the most common reason a payment is refused.
What does the review screen show?
The review is titled Pay PG&E. It lists the account, shown as its last four digits, then the bill, the processing fee, the Artisan fee and the total. A network fee is a charge for moving the money, and it gets its own line only when the quote has one. The last line says usually within 2 days, so a bill paid on its due date can arrive after it. A quote that runs out before you approve charges nothing, and Start over gives you a new one.
What does PG&E say about how to pay?
PG&E’s help page on card payments, read on 2026-10-12, lists the cards PG&E accepts and says some accounts cannot pay by card. It does not mention crypto or stablecoins. Artisan sends the payment in US dollars from your USDC balance, so it does not depend on PG&E accepting crypto. That page does not say how its card rules treat a payment sent this way.
What does it cost to pay a PG&E bill with USDC?
Say you owe PG&E $214. The processing fee is 2% of $214, which is $4.28, plus $2.50, so $6.78. The Artisan fee is 0.5% of $214, which is $1.07. The total is $221.85 before any network fee. The processing fee is priced when you ask for a quote, so it can differ a little, and the review shows the exact figure. How much it costs to pay a bill with USDC works more examples out to the cent.
What if the payment is refused?
If a detail does not match, most often the account number, the screen says The biller did not accept this payment. Your activity shows the payment as Not accepted, and you get an email. The screen says your money is waiting, and while it waits it still counts as money out of your balance. Fix the account number lets you send a corrected number, up to three times, and the payment is tried again with it. After three tries the screen points you to Message support.
Does the money come back?
If the payment is sent back instead, the money that was sent on for the bill goes back to your wallet, not to your Artisan balance, and an email says so. Today, Artisan’s fee is not part of that return. This page gives no time for a return. Why something is pending covers the waits you may see.
What about next month’s bill?
After you pay a bill, the Bill tab can list the biller under Pay again, with the last four digits of the account. Then you type only the amount.
What if my money is already in a bank account?
Then nothing needs converting, and this page does not apply to you. Artisan is for money that sits in USDC, where the usual route is to sell it, wait for a bank transfer and then pay. The same steps pay an Amex card bill and rent, as pay bills with crypto using USDC explains.
Who can use Artisan to pay a PG&E bill?
Artisan Cash is for people in the US, and it pays US billers. It is open by invite while it grows, and you can join the waitlist. Artisan is a software company, not a bank, and a USDC balance is not a deposit. Read how your money is held and the risk disclosures before you pay a bill.
