Pay bills with crypto from a USDC balance
Yes. With Artisan Cash you pay a bill from your USDC balance and the biller is paid in US dollars, so it does not need to accept crypto and you do not sell first. A $725 card bill takes $745.63 from your balance before any network fee, and the receipt says usually within 2 days.
What bills can you pay with crypto?
Each is paid as a bill to a listed biller, from a network of more than 100,000. Find the company by name, then enter the account number and the amount.
- Card bills. Enter your card number as the account number. American Express and Chase are on the list.
- Rent. A landlord or property manager listed by name. If yours is not listed, send the rent by FedNow or standard ACH to the bank details your landlord gives you.
- Mortgage. Your servicer, by name.
- Utilities. Electric, water and gas companies.
- Phone and internet. Your provider, by name.
- Car loans. Your lender, by name.
- Insurance. Your insurer, by name.
What does it cost to pay a bill with USDC?
Take a $725 Amex bill. The processing fee is 2% of $725, which is $14.50, plus $2.50, so $17.00. Artisan keeps none of it. The Artisan fee is 0.5% of $725, which is $3.625 and rounds to $3.63. Add both to the bill and $745.63 leaves your balance, before any network fee.
Each fee shows on its own line on the review screen before you approve. Fees can change, so treat that screen as the final word. How much it costs to pay a bill with USDC works four more amounts out to the cent.
How do you pay a bill with USDC?
You pay in five steps, all inside the app.
- First. Open Move and choose Pay a bill.
- Second. Pick your biller from the list as you type its name.
- Third. Enter the account number and the amount. The smallest bill is $20.
- Fourth. Add your name and address as they appear on the bill, and your US phone number.
- Fifth. Review the payment, then approve it.
Selling at an exchange first, or paying from your balance?
The usual route for crypto holders has four steps and a wait in the middle.
- Through an exchange. First, send USDC to an exchange and sell it for dollars. Second, start a withdrawal to your bank. Third, wait: a standard bank withdrawal takes from the same day to about five business days, longer around holidays. Fourth, pay the bill from your bank.
- From your Artisan balance. The five steps above, with no sale and no bank transfer first. The receipt says usually within 2 days.
If your money is already in a bank account, pay from that account.

What does the biller see?
A payment in US dollars. The biller does not receive USDC, does not need a wallet and does not need an account with Artisan. You enter your account number, and your name and address as they appear on the bill, so the payment can be matched to your account.
Can I pay my credit card bill with crypto?
Yes, with USDC. Card issuers generally do not take another card for a card bill, and American Express says so on its payment help page. Can I pay my rent or mortgage with crypto?
Yes. Your landlord or servicer is paid in US dollars, so how they collect does not have to change. How to pay rent with crypto when you hold USDC has the steps. A mortgage here means paying your servicer. It is not a loan against crypto.
Which crypto can I use to pay a bill?
Bills are paid from USDC, a stablecoin built to stay level with the US dollar. You can send USDC, other stablecoins such as USDT, or many other tokens from numerous chains, and they convert to USDC when they arrive. What if my biller is not on the list?
Search by the name printed on your bill, because some billers are listed under a legal name that differs from the brand you know. If it still does not come up, it may not be listed yet, and Get help is the place to ask.
Who can use Artisan Cash to pay bills?
