Export your private key
Your wallet is yours, so you can take its private key and use it anywhere. Artisan never sees the key and cannot get it back for you.
How to export it
- First. Open Settings and tap Private key.
- Second. Tap Reveal private key. You may be asked to confirm it is you first.
- Third. The key shows in a secure panel that the Artisan app itself cannot read. Save it somewhere only you can reach, then close the panel.
On the phone app, Private key opens your Settings from the web, inside the app and already signed in. Tap Private key there, then Reveal private key.
If the key will not show, sign in again and try once more.
What the key can do
Anyone who has the key can move everything in the wallet, from any device, and Artisan cannot stop them. Treat it like cash. Never paste it into a website, a chat or an email, and never share a screenshot of it.
Artisan will never ask you for your private key. Anyone who does is a scammer.
Using it somewhere else
You can import the key into any wallet app that accepts a private key and reach your money without Artisan. Importing does not move anything. The funds stay where they are on the network, so check which network you are looking at on Which chains you can use.
Keeping it safe
- Write it down. Or keep it in a password manager. Do not keep it in a notes app that syncs to a shared account.
- Guard your sign-in too. See Secure your sign-in.
- Know what it opens. If you lose your sign-in, an exported key is a way back in. If someone else gets it, it is a way in for them.
