The BitPay bill pay page describes paying a mortgage, rent, a credit card, a car payment or a personal loan from a crypto wallet, and it lists over 100 coins, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDC. BitPay describes its other products as ways to buy, store and spend crypto: a self-custody wallet for buying, swapping and selling crypto, gift cards for hundreds of brands, and a directory of more than 250 places that take crypto. For people outside its listed states, the bill pay page points to the merchant directory and to the BitPay Card.

What do crypto holders do while BitPay bill pay is paused?
The usual route has four steps and a wait. First, send USDC to an exchange and sell it for dollars. Second, start a withdrawal to your bank. Third, wait, because a standard bank withdrawal takes from the same day to about five business days, and longer around holidays. Fourth, pay the bill from your bank. Artisan skips the sale and the bank transfer, but if your money is already in a bank account, pay from that account.
Which one fits you?
BitPay is the closer fit if you want your coins in a wallet you control, hold something other than USDC, and live in a listed state once the service returns, while Artisan is the closer fit if you hold USDC or another stablecoin and want to pay a bill from a balance in the app.
Who can use Artisan Cash?
Artisan Cash is for people in the US, and it pays US billers. It is open by invite while it grows, and you can join the waitlist.
Artisan Cash is a software company, not a bank, and a USDC balance is not a deposit and is not FDIC or SIPC insured. Read how your money is held and the risk disclosures before you pay a bill.
