How to send crypto to Venmo with USDC
You send crypto to Venmo from a USDC balance by sending dollars. Artisan pays the amount to the account and routing numbers a Venmo account shows, so it lands as US dollars and you sell nothing at an exchange first. It works for your own Venmo or a friend’s.
This page covers why Venmo’s own crypto tab is a different route, the steps in Artisan, and what a $200 send costs.
Can Venmo receive USDC in its crypto tab?
Venmo has a Crypto tab that sends and receives coins. Venmo’s cryptocurrency FAQ lists what it supports: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Solana and Chainlink, plus PayPal USD (PYUSD). USDC is not on that list, as read on October 12, 2026.
So a USDC holder has no USDC address to paste into Venmo. If you hold one of the listed coins, the FAQ shows how to receive it. For USDC, the route is dollars.
How do you send USDC to a Venmo account with Artisan?
Artisan sends the amount as dollars by bank transfer to the Venmo account, so the USDC leaves your balance and dollars reach Venmo.
- First, in Venmo. Open the app and go to Settings, then Direct Deposit. Venmo shows your account and routing numbers there.
- Second, in Artisan. Choose Venmo, then enter the account holder’s name, the routing number and the account number.
- Third, review. The review screen shows the fee and when the money arrives. Approve it to send.
Can you send to a friend’s Venmo?
Yes. A member can send to a friend’s Venmo, not only their own. Ask your friend to open Settings, then Direct Deposit, and share the account and routing numbers. You type in their name and those numbers.
You never need their Venmo password. Your friend does not need crypto or an Artisan account.
What does it cost to send $200 to Venmo?
As of October 4, 2026, a standard bank send to an app costs 0.5% of the amount. When the faster choice is open, it adds $1.00.
Say you send $200. The standard fee is $1.00, so $199.00 lands in Venmo. With the faster choice the fee is $2.00, so $198.00 lands.
The review screen shows the exact fee and the amount that lands before you approve, and it is the final word. The same fee applies when you cash out USDC to your bank.
How long does it take?
A standard send arrives in 1 to 2 business days. When the faster choice is open, the review screen shows both choices with their price and arrival, and you pick one.
Why something is pending explains the waits you may see after you approve.
What should you check before you send?
- The numbers. Copy the account and routing numbers exactly as Venmo shows them, and read them back digit by digit before you approve.
- Large sends. When a send is close to $25,000, the review screen adds a note that Venmo generally limits how much one account can receive in a rolling week, and that a larger amount may be delayed or returned.
- Where it works. Artisan is for people in the US.
Who can use it?
Artisan is open by invite while it grows, so you can join the waitlist. Cash App and PayPal work differently, and the full guide to sending USDC to Venmo, Cash App and PayPal covers all three. To pay a bill from the same balance, see pay bills with USDC.
Artisan is a software company, not a bank, and a USDC balance is not a deposit and is not FDIC or SIPC insured. Artisan is not affiliated with Venmo. Read where your money is and the risk disclosures before you send.
