Send crypto to PayPal as US dollars from USDC
To send crypto to PayPal from Artisan, you send USDC from your balance to a PayPal account, yours or a friend’s, and the account receives US dollars. You sell nothing at an exchange first. Artisan sends the dollars as a bank transfer to the account and routing numbers PayPal shows under Direct Deposit, so you never paste a crypto address.
Can PayPal take USDC from my wallet directly?
Not as of October 12, 2026. PayPal’s FAQ says US customers can transact with the following cryptocurrencies on PayPal: PayPal USD, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Solana and Chainlink. USDC is not on that list, so PayPal shows no USDC address to send to. That is why Artisan sends dollars to the account instead.
How does USDC from Artisan reach a PayPal account?
You copy two numbers from PayPal and approve one send in Artisan.
- In PayPal. Tap your PayPal balance, tap Direct Deposit (set it up first if you have not), and copy the account number and the routing number.
- In Artisan. Choose PayPal, enter the account holder’s name, the routing number and the account number, and check the amount on the review screen.
- Approve. Approve the send once. The PayPal account gets dollars, not USDC.
What does it cost to send $200 to PayPal?
Say you send $200 from your balance. The standard fee for a bank send is 0.5%, which is $1.00, so $199.00 lands in the PayPal account. That is the fee table as of October 4, 2026, and fees can change, so treat the review screen as the final word. It shows the amount that will land before you approve.
How long until it shows in PayPal?
Artisan’s send screen says a bank send to PayPal usually arrives in 1 to 2 business days. Why something is pending covers the waits you may see along the way.
Can I send to a friend’s PayPal?
Yes. Ask your friend to open PayPal and share their name and the Direct Deposit numbers it shows. You paste those in, so you never need their PayPal password. Your friend does not need crypto, and Direct Deposit has to be turned on so PayPal has numbers to show.
What if my crypto is already inside PayPal?
Then you may not need Artisan. PayPal says proceeds from a sale are deposited in USD in your PayPal balance, available within seconds. Moving coins into PayPal from another wallet works only for the coins on its list, up to $25,000 a week in the US, and PayPal says crypto transfers cannot be cancelled or reversed.
What should I check before I send?
- The numbers. Copy the account and routing numbers exactly as PayPal shows them. Artisan asks you to check a saved destination again if its routing number has changed.
- Direct Deposit. PayPal shows the numbers only after Direct Deposit is set up.
Who can use it?
Artisan Cash is for people in the US, and it sends to US apps. It is open by invite while it grows, so you can join the waitlist. Cash App and Venmo have their own steps, and How to send USDC to Venmo, Cash App and PayPal covers all three. To get USDC into your balance first, see Adding money.
Artisan Cash is a software company, not a bank, and a USDC balance is not a deposit and is not FDIC or SIPC insured. Read how your money is held and the risk disclosures before you send.
